Geno

Friends, I have an URGENT prayer request.  This handsome guy has made such a huge imprint on my heart.  I first met Geno on Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 - I'm rereading my journal entry from that day and my heart is reliving all the emotions that day brought.  He lives at the Agape Family Life House, and I remember quite clearly the day we brought him there - it changed my life forever.  He is named Geno after my Dad & Grandpa (Eugene).

In China, orphans age out of the adoption system at age 14.  Geno will turn 14 on December 31st of this year - just two and a half months away.

If his story could be shared with the masses, maybe his forever family will find him in time.  Would you please pray for sweet sweet Geno?

It's time...

...to start blogging again!

My phone is overflowing with photos of my three favorite little people and snapshots of my life in this little city I love. I don't want to forget this season!

Last weekend, my super fun friend, Nicole, invited me for dinner and a show at 3rd & Lindsley. I love that Nicole is so much like me, in that we're both obsessed with all things Nashville. But, we don't always have the same taste in music when it comes to finding shows to attend together. This particular night, it worked out perfectly! She went for the opening act, Kris Allen from American Idol, and then I got to introduce her to the second act, one of my favorites, Katie Herzig. Such a fabulous night!

And then I got my Bluebird fix with Dave Barnes, Charlie Peacock, Drew Holcomb, & Andrew Ripp. Never disappoints.

The weather has been glorious. It's hard to get in the Christmas spirit without my beloved snow, but this isn't so bad.

We've done some baking...

...and crafting.

...and snuggling.

I'm not into the whole post-Thanksgiving shopping madness, but I did have a couple errands to run that weekend. I saw Ricky Skaggs at Kroger, Connie Smith at Target, & the 80s Tiffany at her new boutique. That is my idea of a successful shopping day!

Our neighbors' dog had puppies & we got the rough job of babysitting while they were away for Thanksgiving. You don't want a dog, Nicole. You don't want a dog.

And last night, my sweet friend, Sarah, came over to help me cut up fleece scarves, write Christmas cards, and wrap them all up (& eat her delicious cookies). We divided up the finished loot & will be carrying them around with us in the coming weeks to hand out to our Nashville neighbors who might be in need of some extra warmth & cheer. I'm excited to hear what stories will come out of it!

Today I have not talked to a single person and it has been wonderful. Listen, I love you all, but I need that occasional day when I can be by myself. I've also watched about twelve straight hours of Departures and now I'm searching for a cheap flight to Siberia for the holidays. Anywhere that will require my backpack, sleeping bag & passport will do.

Weekly Wrap-Up

Here's a peek at our most recent week!

Popsicles.
For breakfast.  :)

One fine morning while we were playing outside, Annabelle exclaimed, "Duck!"  I turned around to see a giant turkey strutting through the yard!  After I explained that it was a turkey, Hattie continued to insist it was a "peacock."
And then the next day, I looked out the front window to see two horses trotting down the middle of the road!  So much excitement!

We got to go visit big brothers' school for field day!  The girls tried their hand at horseshoes and hockey.  It didn't take them long to fall fast asleep on the short car ride home!

On Saturday, we trekked down to Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville, Tennessee to see The Grascals perform at Bluegrass Underground!  This has been something I've wanted to do since moving here, so I was super excited for the day to arrive!  The Grascals always sound great, but they sounded especially great at three hundred and thirty three feet below ground!

My week ended with a surprise in the mailbox from an extra special friend.  So kind and thoughtful and generous!  The figurine is holding 'forget-me-nots' - her new home is on the shelf above my desk, where she'll always be a reminder to not forget the kindness of friends.
