The Abolitionist DTS

Hi, friends!

Some of you were my cheerleaders when I headed off on my first adventure with YWAM - my DTS in Las Vegas.  Can you believe that's been almost nine years ago now!?  Since many of you are new to my life since then, let me give you a little intro...

First of all, YWAM stands for Youth With A Mission.  YWAM is an international volunteer movement of Christ-followers who desire to "know God and make Him known."  The Discipleship Training School, or DTS, is the entry-level school and prerequisite to further YWAM training and staffing opportunities.  A DTS can take place at any of the hundreds of YWAM bases worldwide.  It's divided into two parts; the first half, usually lasting around three months, is the 'lecture phase' - a time for classroom training, wonderful teachings from guest speakers and local outreach.  The second half, or 'outreach phase', usually takes you overseas or on the field for another two to three months. 

Today I want to tell you about something new and exciting that's happening at the Vegas base.  This August, they will be holding their first ever Abolitionist DTS!  In addition to the already awesome teachings that come with a DTS, this school will have an emphasis on human trafficking.  Students will be putting into practice all that they've learned on outreach to either Thailand or India and Nepal.  This sounds like such an awesome school!  If I could do a second DTS, I would totally jump on board!
